Sasha Alexandre Dorogov, Senior Animator
Sasha was born in Moscow, Russia in 1958. At the age of 8 he held a pencil in his hand knowing what he was placed on this earth for. Two years later, he saw Disney's Snow White. He was amazed and knew in his heart he had to be a part of that.
He began training at a local company, Soyuzmultfilm, at age 10. By age 17, he was animating professionally, and at 24 he reached the highest rank in Russian animation.
In 1991 Tom Schumacher was in Eastern Europe recruiting skilled animators to join the Walt Disney Feature Animation team. Disney held a huge competition that 4,000 animators entered. Only 4 were chosen, and Sasha was one of them.
Sasha came to the US in 1992 where he worked for Disney in Orlando, Florida until 2004 when the studio had to close. Sasha's projects included the whales in Fantasia 2000, the wildebeasts in The Lion King, Indians in Pocahontas, Phebeos and Snowball the horse in Hunchback of Notre Dame, Young Simba in "The Lion King, the game," Kahn the horse in Mulan, Stitch in Lilo and Stitch and Koda in Brother Bear.
On his time off Sasha likes to sit down with his classical guitar and play a little Bach and Chopin. He also likes to watch movies and assemble model tanks.
