Cecropia presents: The Act, an interactive comedy

Evan Bernstein

Evan Bernstein, Software Engineer

Evan began playing with computers at an early age when his dad brought one home -- so they could play King's Quest I together. Thus a long life of video game playing and computer tinkering was born.

Not long after, Evan began his other time-consuming hobby, acting in plays. His first productions were at summer camp -- stunning performances that regrettably are lost to history. Meanwhile, he took his first computer programming course and was sufficiently interested to choose that as a career path. He spent four years holed up in a cave in the inner recesses of Pittsburgh, known to the outside world as Carnegie Mellon, where he studied the dark art of computer programming.

Afterwards, he found a unique opportunity to work for a company, Zoesis Studios, that allowed him to use both his acting and computer knowledge to create interactive believable characters. He spent most of his tenure as a programmer doing graphics, game engine, and server work, but along the way he learned more about acting and animation while developing and animating some of the characters.

Evan finally returned to the stage in 2003, after taking a few years off, in two productions at the Vokes Theater located in Wayland, a suburb of Boston.

Shortly afterward, the opportunity arose to travel. While taking some time off he studied Spanish in Guatemala, added 12,000 miles to his car in his drive around the US, rode a majestic camel to India and Nepal, and sipped the mystical chocolate latte of Europe. He topped it off with a sojourn amongst the fine winter weather of Buffalo.

Evan can often be found playing his acoustic guitar, and he sometimes approximates singing in a local choir. Once upon a time he considered himself a player of the bass guitar.
